Hi, why is a land rover oil pump £300 and a pattern £40? do they work- is there a video anywhere showing how to check clearances? - I have workshop manual. What does bad look like???
thanks

ive used these to buy oil pump spares for my series and 200tdi engines pumps which are same/similar
The plungers get wear on them and also flat spots seen on springs may cause to stick
The handbook shows method of checking end clearance on gears as in pic
You can inspect the gears for wear and may see wear /grooves on teeth from dirty oil
I would not trust cheapo ok pumps , it might be on Turners website under information/articles Better to use old genuine than cheapies

pull the pump apart and visually check for wear, if its just polished up rather than deepish grooves and scratches fit a new relief valve and spring ,pumps arent a weak point
