Hi All

I've an oil leak from a pipe on the front nearside of the engine on my Disco II, it's a small metal pipe with a short section of flexible rubber leading to another metal pipe. It's leaking from the point where the rubber re-joins the metal pipe.

You can only see the first section of metal pipe and the rubber part, the leak is just below this point in the photo.

A) Can anyone let me know the part number and
B) Is this a fairly straightforward job to replace the pipe? - Any tips please?

See attached picture

Thanks all

Just saw the TD5 in your sig, it looks like part of the EGR system to me, but I'd stand to be corrected on that.

Most TD5 owners take the EGR out altogether and get the better performance and fuel economy.

Wait and see what the other guys come up with.

Thanks Peter, yes I do have a TD5 but have removed the EGR. The pipe goes from the top left of the engine and then goes under the alternator ( I think) before rejoining the engine lower down. I've looked at Rave but can't find the part shown. I'm not sure what it does ( apart from moving oil from the top of the engine to lower down) so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

Thanks Mastermac, sounds as if it could be but I can't see under the alternator - has anyone any idea of the part number?

I had a similar problem recently only it was an oil cooler pipe on a 300Tdi. Living where I do it can often be difficult to get parts when you really need them and this was the case with this part. I eventually went to an agricultural engineering firm and he made me a new pipe while I waited using the ends of the old pipe so it just went straight back on. He used hydraulic pipe on it as well. What was best of all though was he charged me £15 less than the one I would have waited a week for if I'd gone to the local dealer.

All fixed now with a new pipe - it was a bit tight and I removed the fan to gain better access, thanks for all your help.

Can you explain how to take the pipe off under the alternator?
Upper side seems OK to take off.
Lower side, should I "move" the rubber intercooler pipe while working?
Any information regarding NM for tightening bolts?
