Hi....wondered if anyone can help. I bought a my freelander (2005) middle of february and a few weeks later it started overheating so i took it back to the garage and they said it was the head gasket. After two weeks the garage gave me the car back and after a few short trips it started overheating again. After taking the car back again they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it...they did a few tests on it, left it running for two and a half hours and they drove it home etc for over an hour and said it was running really well. I picked the car up yesterday and after 10 mins each time i stopped the oil light was flickering...it hasnt overheated though....yet!!!! both times it overheated before there was no water in it at all....

Take the mechanic or dealer for a drive with you. Make sure you know how/when the fault will crop up, eg: only when engine is warm at speed etc.

The oil level seems fine. the water level is ok at the moment. going to give it a good run around this week and keep an eye on the levels. Thats a good idea about taking the guys out for a drive in it to show them im not making it up....
