I have the rear bumper off at the moment and was looking at the end of the chassis nice big hole. I was wondering if it was worth chucking some old oil I have lying about down in the chassis to slow the rust.

Wont do any harm unless welding is planned in the future, problem is that you cant get it to cover the whole of the inside.

Could block all the holes and then dill holes at the highest point and fill it:D

Would be interested to know , found plenty of threads on putting it on the outside but nowt about the inside.

Did an oil change the other day so now got 6litres to play with.

Dunno if it is a good idea or not, I have already pumped 5litres of dinitrol into my chassis

I once salvaged an old Mini from the woods where someone had dumped it years ago.
The metal work was almost dust, it crumbled when you pressed on it all except for the tunnel where engine oil had leaked and blown back covering the tunnel in black oily gunge.
That bit was like new, no signs of rust at all;):)

I would say its a terrible idea. A few drops of oil on a wet road causes an extremely slippy surface which would be dangerous enough for cars never mind motorbikes. There's a lot of holes on your chassis and without doubt the oil would work its way out dripping everywhere.

If you really want to protect your chassis use something like wax oil.
