Hi

My son has just bought a 2004 TD4 freelander, 80K with service history. I had noticed a small oil leak from one of the intercooler hoses so, after reading alot on here about the EGR, I decided to take a look. Took everything apart and was horrified to see so much oily gunk in all the pipes :

Is this normal ? I am particularly concerned to find oil (albeit less and cleaner) in the turbo pipe coming up from behind the engine (the rigid one). I will replace the crank case breather filter as soon as I can get one - is there anything else I should be looking at/concerned with ? Car runs fine - smoked a little when I had put it all back together but I am assuming that was because I had disturbed everything, but that has cleared.

Any help greatly appreciated.:)

Haven't blanked it yet - depends on whether my Son wants to pay for it ! Not my car so I'm not paying !

TBH my first thought was the Turbo could be goosed ? Hopefully not - It's under warranty but no doubt they will regard anything like that as wear and tear and not cough up ?!
