Knew I couldn't manage too long without you lot

My 200 Tdi is blowing oil from the filler cap
I have checked the breather and pipe and its clear and reasonably clean.

The engine is healthy having good compressions and not using oil, no smoke from exhaust either.

The breather pipe from rocker cover has been vented to atmosphere and I was wondering if it needed the suck from the air intake to work properly

Thank you:)

In my humble view closed crankcase breather systems are **** as they always end up putting oil into the inlet pipework.
This is true of old and new design engines, most trucks still vent to atmosphere.
Both my 200s have the pipe from the cyclone oil separator to atmosphere.

Try a new cap, then if still the same its head off time to see if either the engine is worn out or more likely head gasket has failed somewhere.

Never occurred to me that the cap seal may be faulty:rolleyes:

If your engines in fine fettle then there should be no more than a light mist which is not detrimental.

If your engines ####ed then vent to atmos or catch can....

Ive had both .

My 19j used to soak the oil filter in oil if put into the induction system.

How ever when i vented to atmos the oil coming out was even worse.......

No oil whatsoever coming out of vent tube just out of filler cap, breather system is clean and free from oil

I'm going to assume its the head gasket blowing into a pushrod hole which is, I'm told, a common occurrence with the 200 tdi.
Dropped my spare head off today for a skim and general check then I'll swap heads and change gasket at same time. :)

Just had mine engine in bits and noticed east to catch engine cover rubber under the cap?

Well its been a while and I eventually got around to having the head skimmed and valves lapped in. put new head gasket on ant find anything wrong with the old gasket but there must have been a blow somewhere which I couldn't find.
Job done anyway thanks for all the tips..
