Morning Ed

When I first got mine i put fully systhetic 05/40 through it I has as externat / additional Kleeoil filter system and so though A HA a will exstend the oil change intervals

Strangly enough, i noticed i was getting oil leekage only at the sump - spoke with a machanic who geve the normal "aye the synthetic stuff - its too thin etc"

After a while (few oil changes) I thought use some 15/40 turbo diesel oil from Vavoline.

This i did and since have never had any leekage starting i cannot tell the difference and iam starting all year WITHOUT heater plugs in "English" type weather.

The 300tdi seems to run cool and if you upgrade the intercooler it seems even cooler - very really do i need to switch the elec fan on (exception low speed low box trailing)

PS mines a 300tdi with about 106,000 on the clock

see how you go

happy trails

Use tractor universal oil from OVOLINE.

Under £1 a litre, and as good an oil as anything you can buy at any price.

Morris Multivis XHD-FE 10w/40 semi synthetic for the engine, Morris Liquimatic Super ATF for the R380 gearbox '94 - jan 98. definately. Change every 6000 miles or less if preferred. We've been using Morris for about 25 years at our dealership and all the taxi's with high miles still sound great, use engine flush as well though if your changing the oil, forte do the best one. You might want to check the viscosity on the universal tractor oil Charles, in my experience they tend to be 5w or 10w/30 which is usually only recommended for cold climate applications in 200/300 TDi's, plenty good enough for the crap summer this year i know but if the ambiente temp gets high it might get too thin for that engine.

Good Luck

Can you not get your oil from a local motor factor Richard, the only reason i say mate is that speaking as a parts manager i know that Halfords are expensive for poorish quality oil, you will definately get more bang for you buck somewhere else. I know Morris Lubricants have an online order section maybe other oil companies have the same. Food for thought.

Good Luck
