I've bought a new filter and Oil to service our 2005 TD4. In the Haynes manual, it says to replace all three O rings on the oil filter change. There is one large one and two smaller ones.

The Replacement filter came with a new large O ring only. The man at Craddocks said he had never changed the smaller ones.

Who is right?

Also, are there any tricks to changing the filter - it looks a bit tight to get the filter out!

Regards, Rich

You only replace the two smaller ones if you need to. If they aren't worn or damaged leave them alone.

No tricks, you need a 36mm socket which Halfords sells & the whole top including filter just unscrews & comes out. You then put you new filter on & screw it all back on being careful not to overtighten.
