Hi all

Which is the best oil for a 95 4.6HSE

Coolant - what mix? Levels - should it be at the min level in the expansion tank?

HevAC has the little book sysmbol and ! (have emptied filters under bonnet and squeezed out the pipes either side of transmission so I'm guessing blend motors - anything else to try first (was cold on passenger side/ adjustable on drivers)

Coolant 50/50 for good all year round performance - use good quality stuff to spec in rave. Top up with deionised water when needed. Max level checked when cold. (Or the water from your tumble dryer) to avoid scaling.

Oil - same spec as per rave most change every 6k to 10k. Synthetic would be best but semi can be used if you pay attention to servicing. I used 15 40 full synthetic and changed every 6k religously.

Possible blend motors but would hook up diagnostics to help first. If it is blend motors you may as well do all of them as the others wont be far behind.

Reasonable price for 20litres. It's a bit early to say what it's like (I've only just changed my oil), but there are plenty of people on t'web who are very happy with their products.

I must admit, I change it when the manual says so and not before! Every year or 12,000 miles.

HEVAC will be blend motors.

i use 10w40 semi synthetic and change it twice a year and halfords long life coolant mixed 50/50 and change it every other year keep it at the level marker on the tank,as for the hevac you need to get a diagnostic check done on that

just a point on oil, i was using synthetic but i gradually weaned her back to mineral. might be my imagination but i think she likes it better. quieter and smoother. old engine after all, even if not many miles.
