oil colour...?

I've only ever seen that on a brand new diff on an early oil change. Put it down to the lube used during manufacture. Oil came out like silver hammerite! :p

Subsequent changes saw the oil look freakily similar to how it went in :eek:

EDIT: Not on a Landy I might add.... (was alternative brand of 4x4)
 
it usualy comes out like hammerite, specialy the older ones, and the gear box oils the same, usualy a high metalic content ;) get a magnetic drain plug
 
Is the axle/diff noisey? You normaly get some silver parts in the oil but i would be a bit worried if it looked like silver hammerite all that metal is comming from somewhere
