Unipart don't produce oil but they know someone that does, Mobil. So check their stuff out if you really - really need the know the specs. most oils have improved and now supersede the above specs.
I'm sure Halfords own oil is Mobil.

There's oil now for Ford Audi VW.. whats all that about?.

The above min specs, although fairly low, still stand. Higher would be preferable though.

I don't think Unipart or Hamfords oil is Mobil, the reason for this is Mobil don't direct supply or bottle oil in the UK. They use distributors like Wessex Petroleum to supply bulk and small pack Mobil oils but they don't bottle oil either.

It would have to come from a company that can direct supply and bottle in the Unipart or Halfords bottles. Mobil don't have that facility in the UK.

The more likely company is Comma who have one of the largest bottling plants in europe and specialize in supply of oil to motor factors under theirs and different names eg Planet, Drivemaster etc. Mobil own Comma so you could loosely say it is made by Mobil but Comma is the budget/lower spec oil sold by Mobil.

The manufacturer specific oils have been around for a long time now. Ford oil is 5w-30 semi synthetic designed for the zetec engines (although also recommended for the old transits and TD5's).

VAG oils have specific approvals depending on service plan and whether you have particle filters on the diesel models etc.

Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, BMW, Merc etc all have specific oil to protect their engines and exhaust after treatment devices (low SAPS oil) as the filters fill up with ash really quickly if normal oil is used.
