Is there a filter in the normal hose? I think there needs to be some form of baffle/restriction in the catch tank. It might be worth stuffing it with loose wire wool to act as a trap.

No. It is a straight through hose. And some Ninetys have two, one off the rocker cap, one off a spigot on the back of the rocker cover, that one actually pours oil down the hose on steep upslopes, and then there is a tube(straight through), round the back of the engine, and into the intake. That is a really bad setup, the single hose is better.

The wire wool might be ok, but I think mounting the can lower down in the engine bay would help, I don't usually see them as high up as that.

Just thought I would let you all know I dismantled the catch can no baffle put some wire wool inside fitted it all back test run no blue smoke.thanks for all your help guys.

That has proved the system. Now you need to go back to the manufacturer and explain the problem and solution. See if they can supply a filter unit.
Be wary of ingesting the wire wool.
