What engine do you have? For TD5 a light (10/30) synthetic is recommended but I would not advise this for a 200/300TDi.

use the cheapest oil you can get and change it often - expensive oil will do the engine more harm than good - it will wash off all the deposits etc and make it smoke like a tractor.

Oh yeah, dnt bother with engine flush etc either.

Not in an engine with a turbo though. Cheap oil may wreck the bearings. Why take the chance for an extra tenner every few thousand miles?

it won't

find your nearest agricultural supplier and buy the cheapest motor oil they sell - change it every 6 months or every 6k

spend the small fortune you will have saved on fuel or beer

you dont say what year or engine you have?

*untrary to the above I use Shell 15/40w. I also hear good things about Millers.

for my R380 gearbox, i use LR MTF94. Its not changed that often so i dont mind spending the £22 for 5l on it. regular "carlube" EP90 in everything else.

Genuine oil filter
coopers air filter
fram/bosch fuel filter
Timken wheel bearings
GKN hardy spicer UJ's

the list goes on!

As he says - I use super universal tractor oil - that stuff is the business - I use it in everthing, land rovers, cars, lawnmowers. 2.5NA will love it - saw mine for many many miles.

Oil is oil. Take Magnatec, oil with some fairy liquid stuff in on top. Not good oil.

Stick some moly oil additive in if your worried about things.
