done the head gaskets, sealed everything started her up sounded lovely. looked underneath and omg its loosing water from the r/h side of the engine front & back and dosent appear to have any water flow passed the head :doh::doh:

started stripping it again,,,, what would cause this ???? the old gasket on that side wasnt bad and certainly wasnt leaking before, what have i done wrong

it only took 2 1/2 hours to strip it down then 2 hours to get the last bolt out of the exhaust manifold !!!!

light stopped play today so taking the head off in the morning

took head off (again) the bolts seemed very loose, think i may have missed a 90 degree turn on them  oh gasket was on right way:D

so i starts to put it back together, carefully going round each head bolt in turn as rave says, lovely i thought, lets see the barsteward leak now!. put all the push rods in and located them in the rocker, srewed all the bolts down finger tight, got the socket out tightened em down 1, 2, 3, 4 snap, oh sh*t, this is getting silly now

head off and down to the engineers to get it drilled out. oh by the way the main stealer only sells the rocker bolts in multiples of 5 ?

Chin up matey. Its a good job Range Rover dont make a boat as they would be done for littering the sea bed. Do you think your local garge would have taken the head back off and sent it back to the machine shop. You have to ask yourself this question as I've seen some shockers in my time.
I've had a car with a receipt for £1500 for an engine swop. Not one of the factory naf jubilee clip disturbed. My Dads Merc had a right hand wishbone fitted to the left. They blamed the part dept as they ordered the right one. At least you will know the works done and its done to your standards. Thats why I've gone done the Irontite road. I've done every thing to make sure all up to spec and nothing else to blame but a crack somewhere in the block.

got my head back, only took him ten minutes to sort it out.

but the main stealers still havent got me a new rocker shaft bolt... they promised me that it would be in this morning,,,lying gits... got to wait till tomorrow now:frusty:
