Just been looking at the pics of LRs in all sorts of conditions, but none of them are bog standard as issued! Me and a mate used to go out on a Sunday morning green laning in the early 70s trying to get through all sorts of sh*t hoping that both of us wouldn't get stuck at the same time. Mine was a '55 S1 2 litre petrol, his a 2a swb. Does anyone do this any more in the only road vehicle they have?

Yep, had some great fun in my first Disco, all standard but with BFG A/T boots. Kids loved seeing her all covered in mud on Monday morning school run :D

Mine's original except for alloy hubs and Ashcroft transmission. Gets me more or less where everyone else gets.

I have a push bike for emergencies :D
The Landy has always got me home, often at a slow limp. I always go offroading with other people who have winches and I always have strop and shackles on board.
I'd like a winch, but my next purchase will be a wheel carrier

no working winches on either of my Series landies, both 200tdi'd and on 3.54 diffs/7.50 tyres..

i've an 88" bitsa that i don't mind knocking about and getting stuck in etc' and my nice tidy 109 that i'm rather precious about, i've just spent Saturday in my 109 at Sibbertoft on the offroad course (carefully) and Sunday was a laning day, 2 wheel drive all weekend and plenty of observation to ensure no damage, just needs a wash now :D

My beast is as nature designed and its my only vehicle .I did strata and happy valley on ATs and no lift.......starting to tweak her a bit now so i can play more...snorkel and muds to start

strata isn't exactly difficult just a bit bumpy as long as you don't attempt the bombhole, i've been through there in my 1965 109 just in two wheel drive (michelin xcl's and mismatched diffs) and up over nant y moch, to be honest most unabused lanes don't need anything special in the way of a landrover and if the lane is badly abused/wet it should be avoided and allowed to recover

lift kits, snorkels etc' are only for really rough pay and play areas in my opinion or for folks that like the image

True enough but I've been through some fords that I wouldn't want to risk without a snorkel.....there's some great ones just south of you :D

ive just started going off road and mine is a standard except the wellors and tyres just havnt tried any thing to dodgy yet tho

i have to agree with grumpy71 u talk sense;)

My Series started standard, but too tatty to want to preserve as original, so I've upgraded it to better suit what I do with it. I want a Series to go where a Defender can go.
