Last sunday I've participated, for the first time, with the Belgian Freelander Club at a roadbook event as it was called. I really had a good time, in a couple of weeks there's another one coming up and if all goes well I'll be present again. It was supposed to be soft but due to the rain in the week before it turned out towards a medium event. Anyway was really good fun.
Pic.1 is probably the place where I lost my front licenseplate, pics.2 and 3 are taken on a private motorcross track where we, as a surprise, were admitted to drive around.

Looks like fun

I'd recommend taking off those side steps though. I had those exact ones and aside from the fact that they were useless as steps as they were too small to actually step on to and usually just got people covered in mud, they also caused a lot of damage to my sill when I hit the bracket that was holding the step on.

Because the step bracket (underneath) hanged down so low, it hit a small tree stump, sending the car up into the air and landing with quite some impact, causing this damage:

So yeah, I'd take them off and sell them on ebay. I noticed they go for quite a bit. Too bad I can't do that now that mine are completely wrecked!

Wrecked my steps in a simular way, but mine only bent the bottom edge of the sill.

I thought you said your damage was worse? I took that as some consolation and now I feel bad!
Mine are dented a bit like yours, but not that bad. I managed to bend the bottom of the sills over. Only just bent them back 2 weeks ago, then wax oyled the whole lot. The tube part of the sill has bent in a little. Not that noticable. Still need to put the plastic strips back. I thought the damage was far worse before, but the sill bent back ok. Well sort of. There's no cracks in the metal. No sign of rust worm either. Sorry if I misled before. I'm sure I'll damage them again sometime.

Adds character ;)

Re the sidesteps. I use them when washing the car, I stand on them to do the front part of the roof and then move backwards to do the middle of the roof, from the steps I step on the rearwheels to do the back of the roof. Thus I guess I make good use of these....(Guess 3 or 4 times a year, but I intend to do that more often from now on.):D

As on monday I experienced some difficulties in cleaning the car underneath and in the wheelarches etc. (just had a straight lance on the Stihl powercleaner) I asked my son-in-law to get me a curved one (he works with Stihl in Belgium) and he brought it in today, looks as (see pic.), I guess this will be much easier now. (I just tried it "dry" and it seems fine).

*sits back and waits for comments about doors falling off:pop2::pop2:*:D

There won't be any comments like that, it was on purpose I used the phrase: the "best LR's ever" gang. :D:D:D:D (Trattor boys very easily intimidated you know, by reading things like that they immediately think people are talking about Def's).;)

FFS:doh: I've just spent the last 20mins looking for the defender behind the gaylander splashing through a puddle, I didn't realise you were being sarcastic:p:p:D

Hi Harry,

Glad to see you as I guess the "big attack" will start soon. At least we're two now to encounter. Ja, was echt tof, het was mijn eerste keer dat ik aan zoiets deelnam en is zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Ben reeds aan het aftellen voor het 1e of 2e weekend in Maart. Hopelijk ben je ook van de partij. (For those not understanding the above couple of sentences, in English it means exactly the same as in Flemish(Dutch). :D:D:D:D:D

i just scrolled through here and found nobody slagging freelanders and never even noticed the word gaylander mentioned wtf
