Definately worthwhile bringing it!

But the V8 sounds so nice you can kind of forgive/forget the wallet
pain - and its nowhere near as slow as a 2.25 diesel!

yeh but i dont need the v8 pulling power... its a fire engine ;)

"Speed trials on Pendine sands anyone ?"

Unfortunately, the PC brigade got there first. Motor vehicles are no longer
allowed on the sands at Pendine AFAIK.

I had a horrible feeling someone was going to say that.

According to Austin, our native guide, "greenlaning" is rather
knackered in the area too, there must be some sort of scenic drive we
could all go on.

Mind, a well sorted off-road place generally has various grades of
"off-road".

apart from being rather a long way up country, the bit around teifi pools is
nice. I guess we could convoy up that way and back down again - depends
what people want. Dunno much about the laning scene south of Carmarthen
though, either whether there are many lanes or what the local feeling is
like.

midwales gets overused by the organised laning people and by such as LRO and
other magazines, which tends to annoy the locals, even when they behave -
people runnning 12-vehicle convoys and suchlike don't help.

Mind, there are a lot of nice *roads* up around the Preselis and eastwards
if people just wanted a scenic trip. Some of these roads almost qualify as
green lanes - miles from anywhere, good views, mostly grass/rubble surface
etc :)

I did wonder if we couldn't get some GOOD green lane publicity by using
101 GS's to move and dump a few tons of hardcore on top of some
geotextile in the "worn" bits.

Anyone else seen that 109 on ebay with the modified tipper trailer
Sankey.

There's a passable country pub /caravan place at Trefach, where we have
been on astronomy events in the past. The folks there are really nice
and friendly, and they do good food too, its near Macnyllldu (or
something), which is a shortish trot out of Carmarthen, and right on the
way to the Presellis.

Mynachlogddu, close to Maenclochog, AKA "Mine Chocolate Log" to
non-Welsh-speaking locals. If you go on a "scenic run", you'll see it all.

I think this sort of plan is best run by GLASS before going any
further.

Now when I lived in Bricks-Town, I knew fire engines sooo fast that
they'd get there before the fire started... ;-)
