Freelander 2 (LR2) OBD2 scanners

I keep getting check engine light coming on, 3 times in last 2 weeks. Engine runs and pulls great. It had the turbo replaced 2 weeks back because of an oil leak and since then makes a whooshing noise when accelerating hard. Garage have reset the check engine light but have not got o the root cause yet. Might have a go myself, can anyone recommend a good OBD2 scanner?

Have the boost hoses been checked?
Any generic Bluetooth ELM327 (under £10) can be used with an app on a smartphone. I use Torque, which is about the best there is, although its only available for Android devices.

Otherwise there's loads of universal OBD2 readers on the market.

depends on yr budget, Gap are among the best but expensive.

I would second the elm32 and torque app, but it does engine codes only, for the other control units I invested in the foxwell NT530.
Bit more than i wanted to pay but it can be upgraded with additional software for other car manufactures when the good wife decides to swap.
and it is handheld / standalone - not a fan of dragging out laptops etc..

I've got the IID BT, but have found it very limited on the FL2. It has much more functionality on the D3/4, but the FL2 functionality is poor, and definitely not worth the £500 purchase price.

SDD with a suitable laptop is available for about £600, which is the best way to go, if the budget allows.

I was a bit disappointed in what the nt530 didn't do on the FL2, but i think its the FL2 rather than the tool from reading more into it.

Try a Foxwell NT520 or older NT510 rather than the NT530.
