So, as some of you will be aware, I've been having a lot of issues since acquiring our 2005 2.0 diesel TD4 just over a year ago. Basically, it keeps cutting out at random and despite trying A LOT of things we haven't managed to fix it (separate post here if you want to read the background - https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/td4-2-0-diesel-cut-out-no-start.323156/page-2#post-4151176)
Anyway in order to try and help us get to the bottom of this I bought a used Hawkeye diagnostic tool on eBay. It promptly arrived today and so I went straight out to test it and see what it would throw up. And that's where it ends I'm afraid, 2 steps back!
I kept getting a communication error and I couldn't get it to communicate with the Freelander. As a test I then connected an old generic OBD2 reader that has linked with this car in the past. Although it never brought up any codes it always 'communicated' OK. I got the same issue as this machine was also unable to link to the car.
Does anyone have any ideas where to start with this and why it may have suddenly stopped working (the only parts we've changed over are the ignition switch and the crank sensor?). Ideally we need to get this sorted so we can press on with cutting out issue.
