I agree...IMO the gist is that power bleed has not much to do with how the pedal and mechanical braking works, it gives benefits for the proper functionality of active braking actions(ABS/TC/HDC/EBD) where the pump and the OV circuits are involved

no it doesnt but its rarely necessary and many dont have the ability to do so, i wouldnt want those to think they cant successfully change a master cylinder or caliper etc

It was the sole reason I bought my Britpart Lynx. I had bled the system and changed the master cylinder but still wasn't happy. The power bleed did the trick. Last time I changed the front brake pipes and flexible hoses I did a normal bleed and it was fine. It isn't always necessary but there will be the odd time when it is.

I may be wrong but don't they reccomend power bleeding when the brake fluid is changed in order to get new fluid into the anti lock system?
Brake fluid absorbs moisture and should be flushed out periodically especially in complex traction systems.
