O2 sensors

One of the O2 sensors on my Thor engined 4.6 is getting a little sluggish so as part of the service due I thought I would change the pair. Question is the OE ones are about £65 ea and the aftermarket (Intermotor) are about £40. There is quite a difference in price, just wondered if anyone had any experience of the cheaper ones. I am erring on the side of OE but welcome any input.

the aftermarket can cause issues so i am told, better go with the oe i reckon, after all its probably the last time you will swap em!

Gav, I think you have just confirmed what I suspected anyway. Ive spent the good part of £1000 on her in the past couple of weeks, so another £50/60 is not going to make a lot of difference. Still, shes worth it.

check the lambdas with a obd gadget, if you have one that is, a cheapo elm327 off fleebay will do the trick. about 30 quid. take it for a drive and watch the sensors perform. they should flick rapidly when cruising/steady speed. it will go rich when accelerating and lean on run down!

i have to keep an eye on mine with the gas kit. dont want it running lean on lpg!!!

storey wilson(the fella that does the eas software and amigo's box etc) is working on a obd tool, should be available soon i believe. dont know how far into the p38 it will get but he's clued up on p38 ecu's so i'm hoping for a good amout of diagnostic capabilities from his kit!! might be worth you waiting for a diag tool if you havnt got one yet!

I am indeed aware of Storeys work. I already have a Faultmate,and like yourself keep a close eye on how things are running as I also run gas. That is how I noticed one of the sensors playing up. Looking forward to getting the old ones out. I think they may be originals.

mine came out very easy much to the suprise of me and uncle, he thought i'd be raggin em out and welding a new boss on!
