Does any one know what this display means. A number 8 with a / through it in the LCD display where the miles readings are shown.hope some one can help.

i think that display normaly says if you are in P N D R 1 2 3 4 if an auto model no idea why it should say 8 unless its a fault coade for something

On mine it turned out to be a poor connection between the wiring and the instrument cluster. Can't say exactly where, sorry.
While mine was in that state, the odometer also stopped working, but the odos
continued to be recorded somewhere in the system. The odometer restored itself to the correct value when the connection was reinstated.
I don't think the symbol in the LCD display means anything. It's just all the LCD segments on simultaneously.

The Odometer reading is held both in the Instrument Pack and the BCU 'Body Control Module' if the link between them is broken it will need to be reset on the dealer computer or by putting the ignition to posII and leaving it for 5 mins...
