I am considering taking a chance and paying for my NPTC assessment without sitting the formal course. I have the assessment schedule , marking scheme and have done some training in the past but wondered if anyone else has done this assessment or anyone has any old course notes? Any help or views welcome - thanks

This qualification is aimed at people who use off-road 4x4 vehicles as part of their day to day work and need to drive across other people's land as part of their job, in expensive vehicles with the potential to cause damage and injury. It is not primarily intended for private owners of such vehicles who drive on their own land or on dedicated off road tracks, although the qualification is open to all. The assessment includes pre-use checks and basic maintenance of the vehicle, safe driving on various types of terrain, and over obstacles. The certificate can be endorsed for the additional units: operating with a trailer, or using a winch. This is not a driving licence and candidates are required to hold a full licence before taking this assessment.
