Didn’t manage an attempt.
Got carried away with the brakes. Managed the front off side corner. New lines, new cylinders, new drum and shoes. Going to do the near side in the morning and if there is time I’ll give it a wurl. :D
I also put the gear sticks back on and coupled up the hand brake. Just the floor to go back down and the electrics to plug back into the stalk and fuse box after that.
Oh and a respray

oh and new tyres

Are you getting fuel at the injector pipes when cranking?

Are you getting any smoke from the exhaust when cranking?

Are you sure the air intake is unobstructed, and the engine is cranking fast enough?
Err, yes, no and just the manifold.
New battery. Everything tested as it went back in. Must be the effin pump timing.
Just re did it all but ran out of steam so I’ve just come home to do a lateral.

it’s positive :(

thought I was a bit ropey last night.

That is a bore, but I assume you have been vaccinated?

There may be a problem with the pump timing, you can't always do much about it if there is a problem with the drive gear for the pump.
It could also be a worn pump, or just that these engines can be very hard to start after a prolonged lay off.

I’m sure I’ll get there. Just popped a pile of pills and crashed out on the settee. Feeling bettera all ready. Seems to be a joint thing at the mo.

was going to the pub tonight :(
Firework display and black peas.

Feeling a bit better today so hopefully back to it soon. I know I’m isolating but may as well do it over on the heap.
As long as I can stay awake for more than a couple of hours. It’s bin a bit fatiquinging this ere covid chit.

Last time I had covid it was like someone had flicked the power switch off, everything was to much effort.

Managed a couple of hours today. Stuck the battery on charge, bled the clutch and tried feeding the new speedo cable through the bulkhead. Didn’t manage it as the S3 bulkhead has new holes through it to the centre position of the speedo. I had to enlarge the inner hole a bit but the die grinder in mi drill fell out into the void and now I can’t get mi finger in

the old one must have gone through:mad:

back at work for a couple of days so must remember mi magnets out of the shed on Thursday.

No fuel at injectors. :mad::mad::mad::mad:

bled, purged, hit and swore at:rolleyes:

Pump off again in the morning, along with the filter body and that sodding grub screwo_O

9, 10 start again

It’s the only thing I can think of that the pump isn’t even engaged with the drive. Even if the timing was out it would give me a spurt.

I hate soddin cars

Any fuel at the bleed screws on the pump body?

I have started hundreds of these, and I have never seen a squirt of fuel at the injector unions, maybe a dribble at best.

The pressure is high, but the volume delivered is quite low.

Not a drop at the high pressure end. I must have pumped half a gallon through the bleed nipples. Checked all the lines and unions for air leaks, even put a clear length to the distributor pump and no air in the system at all.
Used a dry denim rag under the pipes to detect even a splash. NOWT.

I can only think when fitting the drive I have missed the hole with the grub screw and instead of inserting the pump onto the spline, it’s pushed the drive down and not engaged with it.
Last chance tomorrow and then I burn it.
