Ive been a LROI mag subscriber for quite a while now. Is it just me or is there a real lack of articles of the TD5 disco. I wonder why bother buying it sometimes.

i agree, i can't remember when they last did an article on a green SIII, 2.25 petrol made during August 1982 - they need to get their act together or people will start buying it just to defrost pipes with

im not looking for details on the exact year:):):), just something , anything of use. If im lucky theres one technical repair point towards the back. Over the last year I think the only times there have been anything has been when one of the contributers who has a disco 2 has replaced a wiper motor or wheel balancing, im only after a little more, surely not too much to ask for £4 quid odd per issue!!!

i dont bother buying them very often now unless there is a disco on the front cover, unless youve got a series or a defender they aint much use

I have the full set of LRO from 1987 to now and the mag has moved on in the early days it was full of series LR's and RR's then moved it on to discos then D2's and P38's now this month copy it's D3's, so if LRO is not for you then try one of the other three.
I found that the LR World was full of Series and Defenders and comp offroad, OK that's not for me as I like the adventure articles which LRO has a few.
I still think LRO is the best out of the four mags with LRe coming second.

i agree with you totally, Like the other day, they had a feature on the history of discos, they had 3 pages on the Disco1, 3 pages on the D3and4, and about 3 sentences about the D2! :(

Exactly my point, and that happens regularly. I still like LRO as I prefer it to the rest. I guess ive just got to wait until all the disco 1's have rusted away and theyve moved on to the TD5 and its mods or preferably I could affors to get a disco 3!!:)

That will be a long wait, as there are series one's still running around so there will be Discovery one's.
You must have missed the few issues about raised TD5's with all the goodies, or in the workshop fitting a D2 door lock and a D2 window regulator and a D2 ABS sensor/hub and a failed D2 injector harness because of an engine oil leak.

All the D1 had was replacing the exhaust and springs and yes a floor :D

After all the Disco 2 only had a six year run, max.

D2 looks exactly the same as a D1 - hardly any visual difference for the mags to point out.

D2 has ECU's and computers, hardly summat the home mechanic can get involved with so not really as many technical articles can be written.

D1s are cheaper so most people 'modifying' a disco will choose a D1, which reduces the D2's available for feature

lastly a mag will do a feature when there's summat in it for them. im in talks with a certain boating magazine at the moment about some coverage, and the first question they asked was "whats in it for us?". if your a big company that pays lots of advertising revenue and offers the mags free stuff then you can have any feature you want in a magazine. if you have a genuine car or product or whatever but aint giving away anythin for free then join the long queue and you may get a 5 line mention

Now theres some TD5's worth writing about.
Im finding theres plenty of the 'common problems' that they could feature in the technical sections!!!
