Hi all,

Not the whats the best winch question again i hear you say. well no actually.

I did a search but could find the answer. What is the little rain hat type thing that sits above some winches?

Im looking at getting a winch and apart from bidding on fleabay was looking at a goodwinch goldfish is the TDS the 9.5i i think. read reviews all seems well. but when i went to look at the prices there were these 2 different designs but technically there the same and price wise.

So yeah what is this floating cover type bit?:eek:

Help a newbie out. lol

Matt

im guessing that your on about winches with the bridge over them and some without?

all it does it house the solenoids
which i would throw away and use an allbright anyway

the floating bridge thing yes, thats it. ok so it holds the solenoid, which is important to keep dry yes?

So the winches that dont have the bridge, wher is the solenoid on those?

And last of all, the goldfish winches, where is the solenoid located for them to be totally waterproof?

Many thanks

Matt

place the external solenoid anywhere ya like
the albright is sealed and waterproof mine was behind the grill on the 90

mines has the albright type solenoid inside the solenoid box which is mounted on the topp of my grill, It originally had clamps to hold it on the "bridge" but the cable just hit it when it got bunched up and broke the clips thats why i moved it up to the top of the grill, i now have plasma rope which i would strongly recomend i wouldnt have wire rope again, Also in the solenoid box is the wireless remote control thingy and the plug to put the fly lead on to control the winch, The box is water proof and is outta harms way
