does BB get paid for the cost of sorting the field out?? I did one recce and I spent a full day strimming the field do we get paid, does 110Woman get the cost of her cake ingredients back. None of us expect it or want it. Neither does Boomer or Drewster et:al.

As I've said not a good idea.. and just leaves peeps open to been slagged off for "just doing it for the money" even though it int true..
Would this feedback be better placed on the Chippie Run thread, although appreciate that there is definate read across

I wouldn't expect anyone to be out of pocket. Sorry pikey but life ain't free. Yeah labour and helping out can be but costs of setting up etc cost money. Any charity fund raising event has expenses and those are taken out of takings and profits go to charity in question. I don't think that £10 to organisers and £10 for example to charity is much to ask for a weekends activity. I for one would be prepared to do that without a grumble.

After all if its done well we might want the same person to organise the next event. If they are £600 out if pocket would you do it again.

its tricky once you start down that road as pikey said were do you stop and then its no longer friends /enemies on a forum but business with customers and expectations ,do you also charge for advice .a good deal wasnt cheaply gotten though is easy to think cheaply given

hi james, all i meant was for the people who organise these trips on L/Z should not be out of pocket,to my mind it is not a customer led thing,it is someone from our little online community doing a great job for everyone who wants to go on said trip,no matter who organises it.they lose a lot of money organising these trips so why should they be out of pocket for the benefit of others.like chunky said when charity's do things their expenses are taken out first, then any money left goes to the said charity.i am not saying they should get a wage for doing this, just the money that the organisers have paid out to effect this trip.

yes i know what you mean ,and kindly thought ,but for me at least to lose amature nature status in this material world would be a trip down a road were all already in lz is the better human part

It's a whole can of worms best left alone I reckon. Obviously if there is a large single outlay for hiring or something then the cost should be shared but true costs would never be met without loads of questions and arguments.

Offering to organise or support a meet costs money, how much depends on too many factors to work out, but it's not about the money.

Boomer and those that stepped up to support him have done LZ a great service and if anything is to be learned it surely is that that circle of support should be widened and the load shared more. I love that people pull together and create something from nothing....or at least very little.

The party didn't cost a whole lot but it skinted me. It was worth every penny and made so much more by those that brought their labour, their cake, their bread, beer, wine, genny, petrol, sound system....even their recovery kit as it turned out :p.......but most of all it was made by the people that simply turned up.

It's the sharing of what you willingly can that makes it so special and it's good to look at ways of spreading the costs amongst us but money is both too simple and complicated.

For example the amount of money and effort for the party could have been massively reduced if I had simply asked for more help. What was acheived in 3 journeys could easily have been acheived in 1....12 hours driving down to 4 at a stroke but hey, we live and learn and I'm still smiling :)

And yes I do it again tomorrow (if you could lend me a few bob for a week or two)

B/B,what you did on the night for the bods that turned up on your field was a grand gesture in my opinion, but i cannot agree that you should be skint as you put it,for the benefit of others who probably are not skint.I wish i could have made it to the run but unfortunately could not.I for one would have willingly contributed to your costs had i been there.;)

Ok so I'm starting to feel quite embarrassed now
The Chippie Run was never about covering personal input costs or losses, all of us did what we did because it was what we CHOSE to do.
Please, let's not blight what became an extremely successful and enjoyable weekend by bickering over an issue which was never there in the first place.
Can this (and the Chippie Run) now be put to bed on this thread so craigyb and his team can crack on with the mammoth task ahead of them :)

I personally wouldn't dream of asking for payment fr planning  the trip is about getting everyone together to have a good time :D organising it is part of the fun and if at the end of the day I (like boomer) see everyone smiling at the end of it then that's my job done!

Ere Discopol- you reckon you can get a cheap flight over for this run ? sure people could pick you up from whichever airport you can get to , and theres enough spare seats as ballast and camping stuff/tents etc
Sorry 110W didnt see this, but as you can see I am indeed gonna fly in for this one.
45. DiscoPol, Im flying in for this you buggers!!!, Oh Im only Ballast, anybody got a seat for me??
I think Deasy's idea below is awesome and i like the Idea of being Ballast Slag:D
take your pick n PM who you want to meet the mostest :D

I think you should be a rotational ballast, abit like speed dating, but not quick......and it's not a date.

Just a go with everyone........

Ballast slag?

Ok not being familiar with the route we are taking, mudfever has spied 3 sections of the air ambulance for the local areas which one out of the three serves the routes you have planned? im assuming leicestershire is the least likely.
Derbyshire , Leicestershire and Rutland air ambulance?
