a few months ago my fuel pump packed in, (the lift pump under the o/s/r wheel arch) so bought a none genuine one off ebay for £50, and replaced the filter at the same time, straight away it was buzzing loudly and sounded like it was drawing air in, so i got onto the company who i bought it off and sent it back for a refund and got another from a different ebay company, fitted this one and it doesnt sound like it is drawing air in but is still buzzing loudly, its really noticeable at idle inside the car and is giving me a headache, anybody had similar problems?

the only thing i can think of doing is dropping the tray down with the pump on and packing it out with sound proofing foam etc to try and quieten it down.:mil9:

Yes I had the same problem with a new pump I bought from Euro Car Parts, like you I thought it was faulty and returned it, the replacement was slightly better but still way to noisy - my daughter would complain every time she was in the back and sitting above it.

It lasted 8 months before dying so it was refunded under warranty and I bought a genuine Land Rover one, it was about £200 but silence was restored :)

I think genuine or oem ones are made by pierburg. Anything else doesn't seem to last or is noisy.
You can pick them up for approx £130 inc vat and they should last well over 50k

had problem with my pump clicking noise. got a genuine lr pump fitted and it still clicks. Dont know if its faulty or what.

Hi, I think I have same problem with my 2005 freelander 1 td4, a buzzing electric noise, like a pump... who start with the engine, coming from rear right wheel.
Did you found out what was the problem?
Many Thanks!
Ionut

Sounds like the pump pumping, some are noisy ...

At least if you can hear it, it's working ...

There little point in dragging multiple old threads from the ancient past, when the answer is in the the thread.

Your noise will be the rear mounted low pressure pump. If it's noisy, replace it with a quality OE or genuine replacement. Avoid cheap Ebay pumps as life is short.
