Hi Wammers and J the Range,

I'd be bloody grateful for any help you can offer 'cos the wife is starting to get a little fed up of 3 cars parked on the drive, none of which she can drive!

I'm happy to pay any costs and even a drink for anyone prepared to travel to the wilds of Kent (Rochester) to help me out!

Suggest you have a look at the re-sync thing BBS do. Not the cheapest item you will ever buy for what it is. But pretty cheap if it saves you a visit to a dealer.

Would the "Lite" version suffice or do I need the full monty?

Is there a web-site to buy these from?

No lite version as far as i know. Just Sync-mate (look in the basics section) one for each type of engine take your pick, around £89.00 in real money. As it's the only thing around at anywhere near that sort of money, that will do the job, you have not got a lot of choice. Either get one or go to the dealers or find someone who has one you can borrow. You can buy them direct from the Black box solutions site as far as i know.

yours is a gems engine, and you will need to order that one for yours. if it would have been a later thor engine i would have been able to help you..

Hi there,
i have the same problem with my 95 4.6 hse.
have you been able to rectify your problem, if so what was it.
i have been told that the BeCM resync box is only any good if the engine cranks but will not fire.
Regards Steve.

AFAIK the Gems units will not turn over when out of sync.
If after obtaining the EKA code you are still not able to start and still have the "engine disabled" message, you may find your BECM has gone into a Alarmed Locked out state and will have to be removed and sent to one of the specialists for "unlocking and reseting"

Hi John,
with that do you mean the engine ecu and can all ecu specialists do that as there is one not far from me?
Steve.

The BECM is the Body electronic control module. One of the many things it does is to receive input from your keyfob/door lock ,decode it and if correct send a signal to the engine ecm to permit engine start.
ECU specialists normally cannot unlock a BECM.It requires specialist equipment specifically to do this. One of this forums members has this equipment(Irishrover). There are probably others as well

Thanks to everyone for all you help and advice. I took my BECM to Callrova but it was too old and too far gone to repair.
Long story short: I sold the car as a non-runner to a friend who bought a re-con unit from Callrova and the car is now up and running and back to rude health!
So, I am now LR-free but would like to thank the forum for it's wonderful support, it's a truly special place with some wonderful people on it so I'll keep my membership going if that's okay? After all, you never know what the future hold do you? ;-))
