My lovely P38 4.0SE ('95) has been sat for about 5 weeks due to a holiday and the arrival of an Audi A8, so when I came to give her an day out the battery was well and truly flat!

I've charged her up but now the key-fob won't open the door and the car won't start due to an "engine immobilser" message on the dash.

Can anyone help?

Thanks and all hail to the forum!:)

Is that the "turn the key 4 times this way, then so-many that way etc" business?
Yes.
If that doesn't work you may need a re-synch.
One other thing to try, remove the negative lead from the battery, wait a couple of minutes and replace it in a quick clean movement so it doesn't spark. That sometimes clears the problem on my spares dog which normally doesn't have the battery connected.

I'll try the battery disconnect thing....

The EKA code doen't work, it did for the change of battery in the key-fob, but not for this :-((

The fault display says various things about front windows and then say the engine has been immobilised....Aaaaarrrrgghhh!!!!!!

What does this re-synch involve?

Many Thanks to everyone who's replied. :))

Last time I had this was after a flat battery. Put a new one in, did all the re-synch stuff and it ended up needing to go in and get re-coded. That was on the 1997 one which isn't the one where you just put the key in.

have a look on bbs site, resync box..

This all sounds very scary and expensive for a flat battery!

Juast want to get her running to have one last drive before she goes up for sale...

For some reason my wife has declined the offer of learning to drive in my P38. I don't understand it personally, I mean it is the manual version so where's the problem??

thats women for you. it is sounding like you need a resync, the only way to do it is with a resync box or get some body out, to do it for you..

J will come and do it for you for petrol cost. Mind you his is the only Rangie i know that does 1/2 mile to the gallon.:D:D:D

fecking horrid it is mate, i is fed up sitting in this should be the last week. we get out next week for a drink if you fancy it.. may even ask the gimp..

Yeah no problem, he may even turn up if he knows it's your turn. Wonder how long it will take him to choose the most expensive thing on the menu?
