I was due to buy my neighbours 110 off him, but it's got a starting fault and it's got us both baffled, so I'm hoping you might be able to help.

When you put the key in the lights come on as normal, but as soon as the key is turned everything goes dead and stays that way. But if you leave it 5 minutes you can get the ignition lights to come on again.
When it goes dead, everything goes, the lights, horn, etc. After the 5 minutes these will work again.
We've tried a couple of batteries, but it's still doing the same.
By the way it's a 2.5TD

Any ideas?

the connection on the back of the starter is faulty i rekon. When you turn the key it tries to pull lots of current, which heats up the poor joint. Once its cooled again the resistance has dropped and itll work again.

take the battery off, then take off this connection, clean it up and try again

had the same problem...found a loose connection at the starter...fixed it nice n tight...started on a turn.

hope this helps.

Not had a chance to look yet, but thanks for the suggstions.

I've got it home now, we just gave it a tow start and it drove home fine :)
