Got the renawal through today - thanksfully it had gone down (£330) - thanks Lancasters, but when i phoned up to put payment through i let them know my plans to fit the rear bench seats and put a 200tdi engine in.

The basic problem is that the 90 used to be a hardtop, and had the side windows put in, and reregistered as a 3 seat SW!

So after a lot of hanging on the phone and talking to the underwriters, they came back to me saying that they only covvered landy's upto 5 seats on this policy, but they could do 7 seats on another policy with a different company, but it would go down as a non standard mod, and put the price up (a lot) to over £1200:eek:, they then told me the engine upgrade was out of the question as again this would not be a standard landy:mad:

Surely if i had turned up originaly 2 years ago with a 7 seat SW with a 200tdi engine in i they would not have had a problem - so can't quite see what the problem is - i guess the extra seats increases there risk to the pasengers.

Has anybody else had this problem, or does anybody know a way around it - perhapse close the police altogether, fit the seats and new engine, phone up te DVLA, get it registered as a 90 SW 200tdi and then start again? or is there a company that actualy understands than most SW have 7 seats in them, and that a 200tdi engine is a standard landrover engine
:violent:

NFU don't care as long as you don't modify the engine. All my mods are declared.:)

So they don't like those stupid vortex thinks on ebay as well!

Thanks for the help. I've requested a call back lets see what they say, but having a London postcode is the major problem with the cost I think, but hopefully i will be able to speak to somebody who knows landrovers, and what they have in them usualy:cool:

try and speak to your local office. They seem to me a lot more accomodating than thems on the end of the national number.;)
