Nearly got embarrassingly stuck in the station car park earlier. Symptoms:

All gears engage fine with engine off
Forward gears will go in with engine running but feel a bit crunchy
Reverse won't go in at all with engine running, apart from two occasions (once to get out of parking space, once to move from across neighbour's drive) when it went in with a bang after some forcing, clutch up and downing, selecting other gears etc.

Reading other posts I'm thinking at least the baulk ring on reverse has gone, possibly the others are wearing too.

It's an R380 on a 300tdi, new clutch about 1,000 miles ago, Disco t/box.

Thoughts?

Don't think it's clutch drag, it's not the grinding noise, more that it feels like there's some rubbery resistance going into gear. The reverse is a complete block on engaging.

clutch drag wouldnt cause grinding noise but stiff or no selection ,grating noise is worn baulk rings either way ,but wear on baulk rings outer teeth will not cope with clutch dragging as new baulk rings will
