Had a thought on my home from work. You checked the catalytic but did you check the other boxed on the exhaust.

Mate Nissan micra had a similar issue....would rev to a sertain place them nothing. after changing the engine, we discovered the same issue, turned out the internals of the back box had collapsed, blocking the exhaust. It looked fine from the out side.

Might be worth whipping the back box off, will be noisy tho. :D

Thanks for that Vertuas, I'll look into it.
Other update is..............ECU tested and came back with no faults. :5bbanghead:
Back to the nightmare.
Garage says diagnostics comes up with the same fault code repeatedly "injector driver error" so next thing to check I suppose.
Anyone have any experience of this?

no ..

but "injector driver error" sounds 'electronic' ..

googling "injector driver error" .. confirms it

here's 1 of many google returns
P0200 Injector Circuit Malfunction

that plus the "oh bugger a fire" instance involved electric wiring
( did it not ? .. going by memory )

so .. a wiring fault somewhere .. on the injectors ???

Injector driver error generally means the Ecu is knackered.

However, you can't use a second hand ecu without also replacing the immobiliser ecu and keys (transponder chips) from the car

ecu fault me thinks as this [drives the injectors] and might not be picked up on a quick bench test

So, my 4x4 specialists have just told me they have given up on my TD4.
Where the f*** do I go from here?

well i know it means spending £
( or maybe not if they just search for the cause )
but .. i'd take it to Farnells in Bradford ..

( unless that's out of the question for one reason or another )

yeah they're expensive .. although labour is slightly cheaper on hippo 1's ..
.. i had the impression that they know their tech. stuff ..
and their workshop looks first class ..

Update.
OK, so went to pick up my motor and pay the bill. £200 quid for not fixing it. :mad2:
Next thing is sending the ecu off again, probably to these. The ECU Doctor but NOT these, as they are the ones that charger £80 quid and said it was ok. ECU Testing and ECU Repairs - ECU Technologies Ltd.
When I drove it away the rear n/s brake was binding badly, so once home I set too fixing that. Took me 2 bloody hours to get the fecking drum off as the adjuster wouldn't release. What a tw*t, I ended up prising and tapping it bit by bit until it gave in. (I nearly gave in first), but dogged perseverance and brute force won in the end.

Ok, so decided to phone the ecu folk who originally tested it. I thought being as they had already been paid for the initial test, I'd give them a chance to redeem themselves.
Actually, it was quite a positive conversation and I put it to them that maybe the test they did didn't give the ecu long enough to warm up and the fault to appear, so I suggested that the only way to be sure was to actually try another ecu, rather than sending me back the original. They agreed and as luck would have it, (not my usual luck), they had just one in stock. He said to post mine back to them and they would use it to recode the other.
Sent it back first thing this morning, so may be back by Wednesday, which would be nice as I'm now on my annual holiday leave, and a car (that worked), would be nice.
It is going to cost me another £165.00 + vat and postage, but to be honest, as long as it cures by problem, I don't care. On the other hand, if it doesn't, I think I'll just have to shoot myself.

AAAAARRRRRGGGGG!!!!!
Well, ECU replacement came back.
Just the bloody same, in fact the landy runs worse than before it went into the 4x4 specialists, "specialists? Now there's a contradiction". Not only is it still cutting out, but it runs uneven, and keeps blowing blue smoke occasionally, something it never did before.
So, I've had to bite the bullet and book it in at Farnells, the main dealers in Guiseley.
Feck knows how much they'll charge me. Good start to my annual holiday eh?.........................BANG!!! :mil66:
