Hi all,
I know there is a thread on loss of power but I thought I'd just ask another question before you direct me to the thread.
I recently got a new air pipe fitted to my Landrover Freelander TD4 2003. It had split (as was a common fault) so I had lost all power and had black smoke. It seemed to fix the problem.
Then last week I gave my bro my Landy. I told him to check it for oil as he was going on a 200 mile round trip. Unfortunately although he did check it, he forgot to put the oil cap back on (I know how forgetful). So when I got it back there was oil all around the engine!
I cleaned the engine up and checked it for oil (it was fine) and topped it up slightly. Its driving fine except for going uphill where there is no power and it just sits at about 50mph... there is also a bit of a whistling noise on the RHS.
Do i need a new air filter or has more damage been done. I'm afraid to leave it to the mechanic in case he tells me the turbo is gone.
Advice would be great as I know nothing about cars except, checking oil water and changing a wheel!
I'm based in Belfast.
Thanks in advance.
Joseph
