No Odometer Display

I have searched to no avail a possible fix for my missing LCD odometer display. Recently as I was driving on the highway, my odometer display went haywire. It started flashing (rapidly) random numbers then it completely disappeared. I have a spare cluster from a V8 model and I was wondering if I could just simply remove the LCD screen from one and transplant on the other. I have opened both clusters and they seem to be identical (from my naked eye) except that the board attached on the screen on my diesel has one less IC compared to the one from V8. Thanks in advance.

May I add that I have replaced the three bulbs that are directly behind the odometer display center and all I got is one bright green screen and still no odometer display at all.It is completely blank.I believe my issue is the actual LCD on the screen rather than back panel light.Can anyone help please.While my RR runs fine, I get really paranoid every time it beeps.Thanks again.
