Series 3 No main beam flash

Hello,
I am relatively new to Land Rovers having bought my series III just 9 weeks ago.
All has been well and I must say it seems a very unmolested and genuine vehicle, but it is 42 years old.

So, what happened tonite has got me puzzled. The is no main beam flash when the stalk is pulled towards me.

However, the indicators work, the horn works and when the lights are on, the is main beam and dip when pushing the stalk away.

Doesn't make any difference whether lights are on or off, the is no main beam flash.

Could it be a problem with the stalk connections perhaps?

Any Thoughts and experience appreciated.

2.25 petrol by the way.

Contacts in switch most likely the problem.

Fed from a seperate fused supply independant of main light switch , check your fuses. Purple wireI believe.

Many thanks tottot and Blackburn, I will get a look at both - the fuses and the stalk switch contacts tonite (while its still daylight).

It was a fuse (I think). Took it out, gave it a clean and then it started working.

The springs that hold the fuses are quite weak and prone to loosening over time. A gentle nip with pliers to give a tight fit helps.
