No lextrix...nothin

Bashing ma heid off the wall. Asked mates and elsewhere...

Replaced fuel line, primed fuel, cranked like hell, enjin started. Let it run for a while. Voltmeter upto 9 volts. Switch off. Tidy up tools. "better try starting again before going inside" Nothing. No starter, no ignition light, no lights. Dead.

Made temp earth. NBG. Fully charged battery. NBG. Continuity to solenoid. No continuity anywhere past that. Don't understand why no lights though... not that that would really help me.

Ideas?

Did you forget to connect the big brown wires from the alternator and bus-bar to the starter main battery + ?

If so, probably bye-bye alternator. You might be lucky.

Charles thats whats bugging me. I have not touched anything. Worked fine for three years. Change a wee bit of fuel line and 20 minutes later its fooked.

Find a dodgy earth cable connection.

Start at the battery earth terminal, and work all the way round.

It's a bummer, but it may be the only way.

But there is no mention of any blown fuses, clearly he has a issue with an earth strap or live connection, nothing works.

its a series ffs - cant be much - yu say 9volts! - whereare you measuring the voltage?

9v is a bit low for a running engine (Asuming a alternator)? but i would start by looking at what you disterbered fitting the new fuel pipe and then look for single fail points (Fuses , switches , common power feeds.)

Right. Before someone bursts their incontinence bag, I am pleased to report it's fixed.

It was a foosty wire on the back of the unmentioned ammeter. Tried it today and it was fine, but mucho smoko from behind the gauge panel on the dash. All fixed now.

I was not measuring the voltage the volt meter was and I suspect it was only 9v cos I was cranking it loads to help the fuel through after changing the fuel line. It's back up to 14.4 now though.

Happy days. Can drive to ma brothers for a feed tomorrow!
