hi
my dads car has lost all gears
he had been driving it fine pulled
into parking space
selected reverse to Striaghten
then nothing
no gears
AA came done bloody nothing
any info guys cheers
 
What an accurate description of the problem.

Maybe he left the gears on the roof whilst filling up with diesel? Wheres the last place he had them?

Sigh.

Can you engage any gear? Does it refuse to go into gear? Does the clutch go to the floor or is it really firm (fnar fnar)?
 
like thers no linkage at all
it was fine pulled in to parking space
he just selected
reverse then to straten motor up
then nothing
 
snap may well be the right word , on top of the box is a gear hange housing the rod that controls selector yoke has most likely broken off or grub screw on yoke become loose ,can be fixed at home by removing consol and dropping box down a little to get at housing
 
sorry , just done head gasket
serviced it , new rad water pump
the works
my dads gutted
so any help will be appreciated

you will need to remove gear box cross member under neath and just let box down on a jack to get enough room to remove plate under consol housing is held on with 4 bolts plus a couple of wire clips and a switch

just got it recoverd by the AA
back to mine ,
get stuck into it tomorow
and then report
 
gear linkage is snapped
and plastic for neutrael switch
broke brittle
any body got part numbers
or break down of top housing
with gear linkage
cheers photos later
 
got second hand housing £95 with
linkage all complete
got new pin , £20 stainless 303
stronger than original one
didn't trust old pin that was with
it lol
all sorted test tomorow
