no drive discovery manual box

hi guys, have a problem with my disco gear box/transfer box. it will only drive with the diff lock on in high and low but no drive when in neutral. any suggestions as to why

neutral wont have drive clue in the name ,do you mean it will only drive in difflock cos if you do you have cv,diff ,drive member splines gone ,if not in diff lock you only need one wheel or drive part bust to stand still ,with difflock in both axles have to drive so other axle will work

what do you mean by "neutral"?

the little lever does two things..... moves front to back to change from hi to low speeds with neutral in between , if its in nutral you got no drive same as with nutral on the main gear lever.

movin the little lever sideways engages diff lock on the centre differential , when its locked both propshafts front and back from the transfer box to the axles turn together

are you saying that you only get drive with the difflock locked?
ifso it means something is broke in one of the axles.... stick it in first gear low with the difflock dissengaged....engine running if it dont drive forward get out and peer underneath at the propshafts... the one to the broken axle should be turning, cos the unlocked centre diff sends all the drive to the propshaft that turns easyest.

in the broken axle your lookin at diff, halfshaft or cv joint in front axle

will have a look tomorrow. as you say it may be the nut behind the wheel not fully understanding how the diff lock / high low works.

I had the same problem when my front diff fell apart.
Unlock the centre diff and put it in gear and then get out and look under the car.
Which ever prop is spinning means its that axle thats lost its drive.
I just then removed that prop and Im driving around with the centre diff locked on the good axle untill I get a replacement diff.
