Hi there

Just struck with a problem, from a while its been getting worse, I'd switch my headlights on and nothing would happen for 3 seconds then they'd come on, just about to leave my parents and now they don't come on, dim is fine so there is a little light but not enough for night driving and if I pull the stalk the full beams (flash) come on but I can't drive with them all the time. So dipped don't work, as well as the full beams while dipped (I mean by pushing the light stalk in)

I'm on my mobile but from the basic search I've seen would this be a relay problem and if it is where are the lighting relays for a 93 200tdi?

Thanks for reading

Thanks mad hat man.

I've turned off the talkapp signature ;-) and how could you test the stalk? Is it a case of replacing or could you short out some pins on the connection?

Right waited till there was light this morning, I've tested the stalk using a multi meter and it's fine, I have continuity with the switch on and none with it off so that tells me the switch is fine, but on removing the connection at the back of the switch I can see one is badly melted. I hope this application has uploaded the picture correctly? Could this be the cause?

Regards

Wappy

Apologies you could be right.

Reconnected and it sorted, is soon failed again but if I messed with the connection it would stay on, just seams to be very irrattic.

So gonna buy a stalk today and see if that fixes it.

EDIT.

If I press here on the melted connection they start working.

And if I do that and push up full beams work. So I'm guessing that could be a bad connection. So my question where can I buy the crimp terminals and the connection?

you need to change the the switch and the connection ar it will just happen again..
it's a bad connection which heats up and melts the housing, which in turn causes more resistance and then more heat, and the cycle just keeps on.
until it fails (which it has) or it set on fire!
