Can any one shed any light on this,
the diff lock light fails to come on on my discovery 300tdi, i think(!?) it engages when selected,... to be honest i'm totally wet behind the ears to all landrover and things difflock, + attending to cars in general really( has been more my style to leave cars in pub carparks and take tow away offers at the first sign of trouble, rather than get involved)...
I have been quoted a price of about £200 to overhaul the diff lock Parts(?),
Could there be a simple remedy to this problem, a spade connector or terminal that i need to check first off, perhaps?
The quote sounds fair to me, although, i have only had the vehicle about two months and know little of its off road history, and this coupled with my own lack of car mechanic skills and knowledge, has me undecided and a little in the dark about what needs to be done.

first of all put it to where diff lock should be and jack up a wheel and try to turn it, you shouldn't be able to if this is the case ya diff lock switch is knackered. easy fix take the two wires of the transer box you will either have to crawl underneath or take out the centre consul.

someone will be along soon saying put a wire across the two spades connectors to check your light as well.

It's a bastid to get tae aswell! Here's a couple of piccies to give ye an idea where it is..

Take the wires off the switch, and usin' a piece of cable with a spade connector either end, plug it into the other wires. Stick yer leever into difflock and see if the light comes on. If not, then check the bulb. If bulb comes on then reattach wires and screw the switch down a bit until it lights up again;)

Just jacked up front and rear with diff lock selected, wheels both ends turning freely, oh well.. overhaul it is.
thanks for pointing me in right direction though, i was looking forward to getting involved with the job that bustersbus described.
Didn't think owning a LR would be so educating.
Shall tinker with the fuel pump now instead.
Cheers.
