No Diff Lock 300 series V8

Hi,

Hopefully this will be a common problem and someone will tell me what it is straight away!!

My high and low range work fine but all the pushing and grunting in the world won`t send the lever across into Diff Lock! Any Ideas would be greatly recieved!!

It's been asked and answered many times, so a search will help, but basically the mechanism hasn't been used for a while, is covered in ****e and needs cleaning up. It needs to be used fairly regularly to keep it working properly and easily.

as above be brutal with it ...... mind when it gets locked in you might find its a bit of a bastid to get out too !!!

The forks and clevis pins are Zinc plated and go 'rusty' with a white powdery substance forming after contact with water and road salt.

The High/Low linkage is another problem area on ours (Disco 2 V8 Manual) and I have been under there with the ED40 spray while my lady pushes and pulls the High/Low lever to get the stuff round the joints.

Going to pick up a difflock linkage at Newark, so will be able to get all the top cover off and get some oil in the joints at the same time.
