Yes. If the tank is filled with fresh diesel, then opening the valve on the fuel rail will empty the remaining petrol from the rail, and replace it with diesel.

Take the car away from the garage. Call AA Fuel Assist who will drain all the fool out, put a cleaner in ter help, then put a small amount of diesel in to get you to a diesel filling station. They will get it started and running if it will. Price £200. They're mobile units which come to you. Will do it road side anorl.

I thought putting petrol in a diesel wasn't too bad as petrol will still compress. Put petrol in a diesel cavalier once - 1994 iirc - realised before I had totally filled the tank, so filled the rest with diesel. It ran really rough but the car worked, then just kept topping it up so diluting the petrol I assume, eventually it ran fine.
Doing it the other way round ie. diesel in a petrol is hopeless since diesel won't ignite in petrol engine conditions.

The problem, as i understand it, with putting petrol in a modern diesel, is the lack of lubrication, especially in the FIP which can seize of you run it long enough. Again, that's how i understand it

When you refill it with diesel also add a 500mil bottle of two stroke oil. This will help with lubrication of the pump etc.
I always add 2SO every time I fill up my D2. Usually amount of 2SO depends on how much fuel you top up with.
For a few fill ups I would add a full 500ml bottle. Get in Morrisons at £2 a 500ml bottle.
Just google "Two stroke oil and diesel" there is enough info to keep you reading all night.
Let us know how you get on as any info could help others.

Petrol is a solvent so it cleans. Diesel is oily and lubricates. Diesels rely on the oily lubrication of said diesel.I thought putting petrol in a diesel wasn't too bad as petrol will still compress.
