Hi all - lost my beloved discovery ('96 300tdi, 180K miles) to the dreaded metal-worm on the body mounts just before christmas and accidentally bought a Freelander as I couldn't find a decent 300tdi as a replacement.
Hated the Freeloader with a passion, so gave it to the missus - she loves it.....Hey ho.
'53 Reg, 26K miles, fsh, 3 door, 4 seater (unusually), 1.8 manual. After the disco, feels like driving a small (tinny) van.
Bought an S Type Jag just in time for the snow - classic case of mis-timing! Driving that is an experience after the disco, especially in the snow.
Just replaced the front discs and pads on the Freeloader - is this a normal occurrence after such low mileage - really badly lipped, plenty of meat left on the pads, but grinding like a so-and-so, with red brake warning light on? It's now starting to feel like a proper Land Rover, needing work etc...
Sorry to ramble on - just meant to say Hi, but it's an age thing I guess!!

Hi, welcome. Brakes aren't the best on the Freelander & are hard used. Like you I've changed mine & they are showing signs of use about 8 months later but they do work & are cheap, less than £60 delivered for Mintex pads & Lucas TRW vented discs for my Td4, so I don't mind if they've got to be done again in a couple of years. Might try ebc greenstuff pads for better braking next but they aint cheap.
