hi,thanks to member "flossies" guidance,i can now post a thread.here goes.
1,just bought my 2004 freelander1,think it would be sensible to do a service,i.e. oil change ,filters etc.could i ask what oil would you recomend to use.ive never had a diesel engine.
2,what filters would have to be changed.any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Dai. At the top right of the screen is a search box - if you tap in "TD4 service items" it throws up lots of threads where this question has been asked previously.

hi put your reg number into europarts and click service items all there including the oil
the oil breather to the back of the engine will need doing too and change the turbo breather as well thats at the back you can get to it via the front wheel arch
ant more help just ask no special tools needed

The M47R only needs full synthetic oil if 5w30 is used. A modern 10w40 semi-synthetic massively exceeds the original engine oil spec and being a heavier oil, protects worn bearings better then a 5w30 full synthetic will.
