Hello
I currently have a 110 defender
I want to do some green lanes and some pay and play centres not bothered about going through deep water though
Could anyone tell me some essential things I need to do to the truck, I currently have a
2" lift kit and modular wheels
I am planning on fitting rocksliders

Anyone else have any ideas about some essentials?
As I said I'm completely new to landrovers so any help would be great!
Thanks

A steering guard would be good, or heavy duty steering bars, or both.

Even if you don't plan on deep water, a wading kit would help prevent water getting in your axles if you got axle deep in mud, and wading plugs in the bell housing and timing case might be a good idea too (and cheap).

Winch might come in useful on lanes and pay n play. start off with at least some decent strops and shackles for recovery, some recovery points front n back too.

If you plan to do a lot of laning, something like a nexus tablet running memory map (or similar) would be very useful on a screen mount thingy.

Heavy duty steering bars forget a guard it just gets in the way. Make sure all towing points are 100% front and rear. buy an 8m 24mm rope. (NOT a strop). if you want to go furthur then bigger dia tyres with a more aggressive pattern than a road pattern

What's wrong with a strop, plenty of members have them - especially on AG :D

And you will also find a fat wallet and deep pockets will come in handy ...

Also would be worth getting some more experienced people to show you how to tackle obstacles, what to do if you stall on a hill, descending, cross ditches etc as it's amazing how much a standard fender will do.

IMO you don't need anything extra for greenlanes other than good tyres and a rope and a mate in another 4x4

Or go on a half day experience to learn

recovery items. i.e straps ropes shackles. a high lift jack/farm jack with suitable jacking areas as they can be used to lift the fender to put rocks branches etc under wheels if you get really stuck and they can be used as a winch with the ropes and shackles. a spade to make ramps out of ruts if needed. as many under body guards as you can afford as they are cheaper than getting stranded with a smashed diff etc good set of wellies fo the mud and some all terrain tyres to be cheaper than specific mud tyres as you can use a/t tyres on the road better than m/t.
and as said before a mate with another 4x4 to help drag you out if needed.

also whats your location for greenlane meets and pay and play suggestions etc
