Hi Guys
We just got our brand new Freelander on Friday and are trying to get it sorted to our requirements. However, we're having one major niggly problem. Memory seats. I've tried following the scant instructions in the handbook (move seat to where you want it, sort mirrors, press 'm' button for five seconds and then press memory number within another 5 seconds) only when I do this, it just goes straight into what it set in memory currently. It doesn't seem to want to remember my settings. Tried it about four times yesterday and each time, after adjusting seat and mirror, I'd press the buttons and it would go back to where it thought it should be.

Help!

Oh if that's the only probem you've got you'll be the luckiest person to own a gaylander. Might I suggest you spend a few hours and read through the posts in this section. It'll give you some idea of the terrible mistake you've made. But don't be too disheartened because when the problems do pop up we'll be here to help. We may take the **** at the same time. But it's only cause we like to have a laugh on here.

Well after spending time on Jap import forums for our other cars you get immune to abuse. We had the choice of getting this or a Lexus IS220 and figured that the Freelander 2 was more different from what we had and had a big enough capacity for work related stuff. Besides, we read some reviews of the new Freelander and it seemed pretty much better than previous models. Let's put it this way, in my GTO I can go quite fast and turn lots of head and driving puts a constant smile on your face but when you climb out you need five minutes stretching to be able to straighten up plus at 360bhp I get about 15 mpg. The Freelander is paid for by work and so any problems will get sorted free of charge! :)

if it's the new style Freelander i doubt if they will have anywhere near as many issues as has plagued the previous version, i'd have hoped LR would have learnt from their mistakes by now

but only time will tell

hint hint below just in case

Car Insurance, Breakdown Cover, Status Check, Personal Injury Claim, Car Loan
The AA: Car Insurance, Breakdown Cover, Loans, Motoring Advice, Travel and Maps
Car Breakdown Cover Insurance | UK & European Breakdown Cover: Green Flag

ah just seen someone else has also mentioned the breakdown thing

Oh we dint abuse peeps on here   WELL!!! not unless they ask fer it and behave like ****s 1st. But we do like a bit of **** taking.

No problems there than thrash the arse off it and let us know what breaks. You can be our own Jeremy Clarkson :D .

Lol.... I already got RAC and work cover AA so we're doubly blessed. Plus the car only had .4 of a mile when we got it so not worried in the slightest, besides, I sold my old Lexus SC400 to get my GTO and was given horror stories about Mitsubishi GTO/3000GT reliability (compared to Lexus) but its rolling along at a great rate of knots without a sniff of problems.

Plus, we did a ton of research into the new model Freelander and read up a lot (including it winning the Autocar small 4x4 test and being well placed in other car of the year awards) so we're happy!

Now, back to my problem or lack of understanding about our memory seats! (I realise for most REAL Land Drover owners that relates to where did you last put them after they were taken out to hose pipe them down) :):)

I LIKE THE CUT OF THIS GUYS GIB If you want to go fast buy a fast car or BETTER STILL.......GET A MOTORBIKE!

To get back to the original problem, I've tried the ones at work and they work as you expected, so it sound like a fault, take it to the dealer.

I spoke to Land Drover technical support a couple of days ago. The girl informed me that it is a known problem and requires a software update. Apparently (to quote her) everything works but the memory doesn't remember!! So I'll take it in to my local dealer in about three weeks are apparently there will also be an update on the bluetooth software at that time as well so I can get both updated at the same time.
DaveC:
Cheers for trying it though mate.
