Freelander 2, 2012. Owned for 5 years no major problems. When going to start the car, key docked, foot on brake, press start button, a number shows where the total mileage reading should be for a few seconds when the car is cranking and then disappears and the total mileage reading shows as normal, this started a week ago, showing number 29 and each time I start the car the number lowers by 1, it is now showing number 8, anybody any idea what this relates too and what happens when it reaches 0 also any idea on what can be done to fix it ?

Countdown in days to annual service? If so it would just go negative afterwards,

Many thanks, hope your right, I will have to wait and see when it reaches 0. First time I have noticed this since owning the car for 5 years.

Definitely the time based service indicator. If it's the first time you've seen it, maybe the last person that serviced it didn't reset the time based indicator, or you're doing less mileage, so the time counter is coming up before the mileage based counter.
I reset both time and mileage counters when I service mine, but not everyone does that.

Many thanks, now with 2 answers the same, I am pleased. Don't mean to be a sceptic, but having owned for 5 years it surprised me that it has never occurred before or that I have missed it.
