Hi folks, wonder if you could help with some wise words on a problem with my FL TD4 clutch. (Have searched the forums but all the info seems to be on the 1.8s)

Occasionally, the clutch pedal seems to stick about half way when releasing it back up. When it happens, it makes gear selection difficult. However, the pedal can be pulled back up with my foot and will then work away happily. Very intermittent, the clutch and gears are normally fine, no slipping, crunching etc.

Other half had a look at pedal linkage under the dashboard, all seems to be well so think its probably hydraulic but where to start?!?!?!?!?!

Any suggestions would be great. Oh and btw one other random question......whilst peering into the engine bay to find the various clutch bits and bobs, I noticed a rigid pipe at the back left (as you look into the engine from front of car) that doesn't appear to be connected to anything! Its level with the oil filler cap, shaped a bit like a shepherds crook and I'm sure it should be connected to something ha ha!!!!

Hope you guys can help :D

I think you will shortly be experiencing master cylinder failure as this sounds like the seals starting to go. There probably won't be any fluid loss as it is just leaking past the seals. The cylinder is easy to change and is around £105 if you look around. The cylinder has a bayonet type fitting at the bulkhead and a quick connect fitting at the other as it is prefilled with fluid. The other pipe you refer to is a breather pipe (can't remember what it's for at this time) so it should just vent to atmosphere.

Thanks for your reply Allan. Much appreciated! Other half went to breakers yard today to try and source a used part till we establish if thats the fault........which was a great idea in theory until the garage manny broke it taking it off the car!!!! Back to the drawing board.......suppose its time to open my purse and let the moths out for a new part!!!!

Thanks again
